Waterfalls on Davis Creek (White County, GA)

Description of visit to waterfalls on Davis Creek above Dukes Creek Falls. Would be a good "cool down" hike after doing Raven Cliff.

Jack Anthony and Jim Parham describe waterfalls on Davis Creek above Dukes Creek Falls. (Yes, half of "Dukes Creek Falls" is on Davis Creek). I just purchased a new camera (SONY Alpha a6000) and wanted to try it out with an easy venue, so I drove up to check out these waterfalls. Turn off Hwy 348 into Raven Cliffs Trailhead parking lot. The access road goes down hill, crosses Dukes Creek and turns to gravel. The parking lot is on the left with pit toilets and an information kiosk. Instead of going left into the parking lot, stay straight onto FS 244.

  • Drive FS 244 for about half a mile to a pull out on the left (Anthony says 0.5 miles; Parham says 0.6).
  • The trail begins a slow descent into the woods.
  • Go straight through this camp site.
  • The trail gets steeper as it follows the crest of a secondary ridge and arrives at the top of the 250 foot "Dukes Creek" waterfall and the bottom of a 50 foot waterfall on Davis Creek. Total hiking time is less than five minutes.
  • This is a pic of the top is taken from a safe distance .
  • "Second Falls on Davis Creek". Nice; even nicer with more water.
  • Back on FS 244 and go another half a mile to a ford of Davis Creek. Parking areas and trails to the "Third Waterfall on Davis Creek" are on either side of the ford.
  • "Third Waterfall on Davis Creek" is upstream 100 yards.
  • This waterfall is on the tributary coming in from the north just below the Third Waterfall on Davis Creek. Parham has a much better pic.
