Rabun County, Georgia. Tuckaluge Creek is a major watershed in the Warwoman Wildlife Management Area. (WWMA). For more than 20 years, on my way to Hale Ridge Road or Overflow Creek Road or Sarahs Creek Road, I have driven by Forest Service Road 153; aka; Tuckaluge Creek Road. Two weeks ago, I decided to do some recon. I was able to drive all the way from Warwoman Road to the Bartram Trail between Wilson Gap and Double Knob. Knowing I can drive into the heart of the Tuckaluge watershed, I decided to do some exploration.

  • Rabun County, Georgia.
  • For my initial exploration, I chose an area near Indian Grave Hill. Take Warwoman Road east from Clayton, Georgia (US Hwy 23) for 6.3 miles and turn left on Tuckaluge Road. The paved road ends in half a mile and FR 153 begins. A Wildlife Management Area sign shows up soon, thereafter.
  • From Warwoman Road, drive 1.9 miles and park by a drainage ditch on the left.
  • This is the ditch.
  • This is the forest.
  • And this, is the waterfall! Extremely steep terrain around the waterfall.
  • A marvelous, 30 + foot free fall in front of a small cave.
  • How does "Indian Grave Falls" sound as a given name?
  • What about that cave? What's in there?
  • Whoa! I can't claim to be the "Discoverer" of this beauty!
  • I didn't craw up in the cave to see what's in the paint can!!!! Goecache ?
  • And, a different version of stone-piling.
  • Here is the GPS track. Note that FR 153 actually comes out to the Park/End way point before swinging around and heading down to the creek.
  • The track according to Gaia.
  • Not very long but STEEP!!!
