• Hoping to find a way on up the creek from the bottom of the waterfall that I recently found on Davis Creek, I returned.
• This time, I parked in a pull-out just before the ford on FR 244.
• Heading up the River Left side of Davis Creek, the heavily-visited Lower Falls is visible almost from where I parked.
• Not stopping at this waterfall, I crossed a tributary and climbed up to an old logging road.
• There are some picturesque shoals that you can't see from the bottom of the waterfall.
• The logging road crosses the top of the Lower Falls. My previous hike describes the hike up the creek from here.
https://mtnimages.smugmug.com/Hiking-With-Mtnimages/Headwaters-of-Davis-Creek/
• Remember the little Side Falls I passed on the previous hike?
• This time, I bushwhacked a couple hundred yards up the feeder stream . With a larger watershed, this would be a great waterfall.
• Isolation shot of the very top of the waterfall.
• Back on the trail, this is what you see as you approach the waterfall around the 2400 foot elevation. All my previous pictures were taken from the bottom-right side of the waterfall. I wanted to get up on the top-left to see around the bend in the creek.
• Viola! Here is what you see from there!
• And, a little bit of the lower drop, as well.
• This is a very nice waterfall. About 18-19-20 feet high.
• Here's a shot for folks that prefer shorter exposures.
• Completely surrounded with rhododendron, you can't tell there are more drops above and below this tier.
• 😊😊😊😊
• Looking out over the lower drop, the mountainside is open but VERY steep! I looked around a bit on the mountainside behind me and found an ancient logging road higher up. I think I will be able to use that road to get around the waterfall and on up the creek.
• My track according to Garmin. Eliminating some of the dead space from the plot, Garmin shows about 2.4 miles. My Gaia track says it is 1.7 miles. How about 2.0 miles, round trip?
