So, I did check it out. And now, you can, too! From Warwoman Road, drive north on Overflow Creek Road for 5.4 miles and park in a pullout on the right (I turned around before parking). Coordinates for parking are 34.97072, -83.24883. Hike on up the road (Road-north) 120 yards to a drainage ditch on the left side of the road. The ditch is directly across from a well used logging road that leads to Holcomb Creek.

  • Okay, so I made up the name of the creek the waterfall is on! While I was poking around Bailey Branch in Rabun County, Mark Oleg suggested I check out the possibility of a waterfall at 34.969804, -83.250183.

  • Don't follow the ditch like I did. Instead, head directly into the woods. Cross a minor feeder stream (GAIA erroneously shows this to be the stronger creek), climb up a small bank, cross a flat ridge and drop down into the correct drainage. From the vehicle, all of this adventure will consume less than 10 minutes. (Took me a LOT longer).
  • This is waterfall is hard to describe as it is in three "pieces". The top piece is 16-17 foot dropping into a shallow pool full of debris. The water leaves the pool on River Right and, under the cover of foliage and debris, drops over a two-step granite ledge. Flowing back to the river left side of the stream, it drops four feet (onto my two feet).
  • I estimate that before the water found a way around that ledge, this was a 28 foot waterfall.
  • Coordinates are, as Mark suggested, 34.969804, -83.250183.
  • The sun was retreating enough to get pretty decent pictures.
  • In contrast to most of my pictures where the camera minimizes the height, the camera makes this waterfall look a lot bigger than it is.
  • Isn't that moss gorgeous?
  • Add it to your list of waterfalls to see if you are driving by.
